Unceasing Prayer
- Discernment
The first part of the All Things New Prayer focuses on discernment. Discernment literally means to “cut away at” until you find what is best. This is what makes discernment difficult. It isn’t a decision between a good thing and a bad thing, it is examining all the good and deciding what is best. In order to discern well, we need to be totally free, totally generous, and totally passionate.
- Vision
The second part of the All Things New Prayer focuses on our unifying vision of our mission in the world. Jesus commissions us to “Go and Make Disciples.” All of our ministries (schools, hospitals, food banks, homeless shelters, etc.) fall short of the mark if leading people into a relationship with Jesus and his church doesn't remain central.
- Stewardship
The final part of the All Things New Prayer focuses on the zeal and generosity of previous generations that built so many of the Catholic institutions that we know today. We pray that we are able to use the spiritual and material resources we have inherited and those that God has given us in the present, so that we can generate new modes of evangelization for today’s society and generations to come.
